Pride of Lions

Lion, (Panthera Leo).   This large, sociable cat lives in prides of several adult females, (often related), offspring and up to three adult males and they all defend their territory against rivals.  They are most active at night.   Although they prey on anything from young elephant to hares, they favor larger herbivores and are known to scavenge and pirate the kills from other carnivores.   The roar of an adult male can be heard for several miles.

A group of lions is called: a pride, sault, or troop of lions.
