Ha Long Bay, North Vietnam

Junk Cruise/Tour of North Vietnam’s Ha Long Bay.

Our group received had a cruise/tour of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Ha Long Bay. This is one of the most spectacular sights in the world and is considered the “Eighth Natural Wonder Of The World.” For those up to the challenge of 120 (uneven) steps, the pièce de résistance was “Sung Sot,” translated: “Surprise Cave.”

Located in the Gulf of Tonkin, Ha Long Bay is one of the world’s outstanding natural wonders resembling a geographic work of art with over 3,000 tiny islands, dotted with rock arches, sheer cliffs, innumerable white sand beaches and peaceful coves of limestone islets soaring dramatically from the bay. This densely concentrated zone of picturesque, kharst islands and cliffs, (limestone dissolved into fantastic shapes), is world famous for its spectacular grottoes and caves featuring the tranquil beauty and breathtaking scenery of this magnificent natural splendor of the Far East - viewed from the deck of a North Vietnamese junk.
