Phang Nga Bay covers an area of 400 sq. km. and is home to some 100 islands, many of which could feature in The Guinness Book of Records either for their beauty or for their freakish shapes.  It is under national park protection and as a result no boats are allowed to go too close to the island because of its precarious position – big on the upper part and relatively slim at the bottom.   The two best ways to view James Bond Island are from boats or from the small beach on Koh Ping Ghan.

Koh Ping Ghan is a very high leaning rock that has small caves inside.   On its crowded eastern beach, there are stalls and stands selling knickknack souvenirs, mostly made from shells and woods.

Considered by many a "must see" sight, there are very few places in the world with a landscape like Phang Nga.   Begin your day with a drive to the island's north end, and cross over to the Thai mainland via the Thep Krasettree Causeway.  Upon arrival at Phang Nga Bay you will switch to a motorboat and begin an unforgettable cruise through the surrealist landscape of sheer limestone karsts that jut vertically out of the emerald-green water.   Their dramatic coloring of ochre and amber hues contrasts vividly with the startling blue of the water.

You will also have a chance to visit Koh Panyi, a water fishing village on stilts where more than 200 houses were built on stilts with attached wooden walkways.   They originally migrated from Indonesia and settled down here over 200 years ago.

Enjoy a late lunch at the Phang Nga Bay Resort, a setting overlooking the mangrove forest and towering hills.   The buffet lunch features a selection of Thai cuisine.   Suwan Khuha Temple, a cave temple that dates back over 200 years where numerous Buddha statues, whether standing, reclining, seated are here for you to view.
