Bangkok, Thailand

Flower Market, Klongs, Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn)

The bustling flower market in Pak Klong Talad is as beautiful as it is exciting.

The "klongs" or canals are vital to Bangkok and the spectacular "Wat Arun"
or Temple of the Dawn is monumental; it is Bangkok's best-known landmark. The
central tower is over twenty stories high. Below is the famous Chao Phraya River.

Not to be missed is the house/museum of Jim Thompson, the man who made Thai silk
synonymous with Bangkok. Although it might be considered "cluttered," it is full of
oriental art, Chinese, Khmer and Thai antiques. The mystery disappearance of Jim
Thompson in 1967 in the jungles of Malaysia has never been solved.

Thai Silk ~ Care Instructions

To keep its original appearance, Thai silk should be dry-cleaned.

If hand-washed use only mild soap, such as Woolite, in lukewarm water.

Never put any type of silk in an automatic washing machine.

Plain silk, if hand-washed, will become softer.

If making a garment, it is recommended to soak the piece in lukewarm water prior to cutting.

However, this is not necessary for printed silk.

Always hang silk in the shade to dry.

Never leave it crumpled or creased while wet.

Before ironing, it is important to always spray with water until thoroughly damp; then iron on the underside.
